MOOT COURT

The School of Law (SOL) at NMIMS Navi Mumbai promises students firsthand learning, giving them access to fully imbibe the knowledge of Law with exposure to Critical Thinking, Legal Writing, Moot Courts. And this is done through different extra-curricular and co-curricular activities in the form of various clubs and committees. The Moot Committee at SOL is one such committee. The Moot Committee aims to provide a simulated environment where students can practice court proceedings where they can have enough practice drafting memorials and engaging in oral arguments. The Committee also organises several webinars, seminars, workshops, competitions in order to keep students up to date with the art of Mooting.

THE PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the Moot Committee is to provide hands-on experience in the field of Mooting. The Committee plans a number of Intra Moot events and also encourages the students to participate in National Level Moot Court Events. Mooting is the closest experience that a student can have in terms of participating in a real legal proceeding. First-year students of law are not that aware of Mooting, that is why, another objective of this Committee is to help the novices acquaint themselves with Mooting. Hence, the Committee aims at providing ample opportunities in this field.

THE BENEFIT THAT THE COMMITTEE PROVIDES TO THE STUDENTS

By holding workshops, webinars, competitions, etc., the Committee exposes the students to skills that are essential for solving legal problems such as arguing, gaining self-confidence, researching, finding loopholes, staying calm and many more. With the help of this exposure, the students can make their CV as well as their personality in the legal field appealing. Therefore, overall the Moot Committee brings to the students a whole package of opportunities to help boost their legal career.
